I'm thrilled to be training for my #VideoWorks certification alongside other military Veterans here at The Sheffield Institute for the Recording Arts!

For the past few weeks, we've been diving into our programs, mastering our craft, and learning everything it takes to succeed in the AV industry.

In addition to offering 6-month certifications in Audio, Video, and AV Tech, The Sheffield Institute is unique because it offers:

Today, I will get a free meal at Applebee’s. People that know I served will call to thank me. The VA will send me a thoughtful postcard. And, I will ruminate over the inability of man to find peace without a weapon.

On the macro, war is inevitable. On the micro, YOU have the power to stop it, everyday. Control your road rage. Forgive a cheating spouse. Talk to a squeegee boy. Ask a cop his first name, not his badge number. And, for god’s sake, stop listening to the hatred spewed by these faulty politicians. Elect the humble.

If you see tears in my eyes today, it’s not because of what I’ve seen or done. It’s because nothing has changed since I’ve seen it or done it. Hug a veteran.

I’m having a bad day. So I went to my go-to #pickmeup …. scrolling thru vids of #mykids

This day was special for us for so many reasons. I wanted to film my rugrats first trip around the bmx track (yes, I know they’re on mountain bikes, it’s what we had). I didn’t expect to give a motivational speech to my daughter but that’s what ended up happening. She was nervous to take that first ride. TBH I felt proud of myself that day for that. I had a proud dad moment.

But as I watched this today, it was my little girl that impressed me. No matter how motivational my speech was… she still had to be the one to let go and ride. And she did. And then she loved it. Which is the only metaphor I needed for today.
